Matthias Dittmar, PhD

Matthias Dittmar is the managing partner of MSM Capital.

He received his education at the Technical University of Munich (master in mechanical engineering, 1989) and Harvard University (Managerial Finance, 1991/92). He received his PhD at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Magdeburg (Business Administration, 1997).

In 1991, he began his career at the consulting firm Roland Berger & Partner and entered the internationally oriented management consultancy Bain & Company in 1995. He worked in sectors such as industrial goods, consumer goods and services on international projects for clients in Germany, England and Spain from the industry as well as private equity.

In 2000, he founded, together with several private investors, Firestorm AG - Capital Partners, a private equity fund specializing in technology and medium-sized enterprises . The most successful exit of Firestorm AG was the trade sale of a carve-out from the Delacher Group to the publicly traded Thiel Logistik in 2001. In 2002, he founded Dittmar & Partner and focused together with his partner Beelitz & Cie., on corporate finance advisory. In 2004, he co-founded Rothgordt & Cie., a Bain spin-off focused on Transaction preparation and M&A that won the Portfolio disposal of various companies from the Thomas Cook Group. In 2006, he successfully sold his company shares in Rothgordt & Cie. and devoted himself once again to corporate finance activities.

In 2009, he co-founded MSM Capital with other Partners. Since then, he has been focusing entirely on corporate finance and M&A mandates, as well as on the development of transaction-related portfolio strategies. Clients included: Agro-Norm, Xenios AG (Fresenius Medical), KION Group, ThyssenKrupp AG, Gildemeister Energy Storage, UNIWHEELS Group, u2t Photonics AG, Ritter Solar, Gesundheitswelt Chiemgau, VOIT Automotive, as well as several private equity funds and family offices (including Allianz Capital Partners, Equitrust AG, LIVIA Corporate Development SE).
